Metaphor: ReFantazio gets a free demo on Switch 2

Atlus has released a free demo of Metaphor: ReFantazio for Nintendo Switch 2. The "Prologue" demo appeared on the Nintendo eShop around October 12–13, 2026. Some outlets said it first arrived in Japan and Australia, with other regions following within about a day.

The demo covers the opening hours of the role-playing game. According to Pocket Tactics, players can explore the United Kingdom of Euchronia, meet some of the characters who join the party and play the first four dungeons. They can also unlock seven of the game's more than 40 Archetypes, the classes used in combat.

Progress made in the demo can be transferred to the full game, Gematsu and Siliconera reported. This means players do not need to replay the opening if they buy the game later.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is already available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S and PC. Those versions also had demos. The Switch 2 version was announced during a Nintendo Direct on June 9, 2026.

The Switch 2 version will launch on November 12, 2026. Siliconera reported a price of $39.99 for the standard edition on the eShop. Pre-orders are open and include two bonus item packs. No features unique to the Switch 2 version have been detailed in the reports.
