The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2 on Friday night in Game 1 of the 2026 World Series, at American Family Field in Milwaukee. The Brewers now lead the best-of-seven series 1-0.
Milwaukee took the lead in the first inning. Christian Yelich hit an RBI triple that started a two-run inning, and the Brewers never trailed after that. The Rays cut the lead to one run in the fourth inning, and Milwaukee added an insurance run in the seventh.
Starter Jacob Misiorowski allowed one run over five innings and earned the win. The Rays threatened in the ninth inning, and a replay review went against them when the umpires ruled that a fielder's foot had come off the bag. Closer Trevor Megill ended the game with a strikeout.
Neither team has ever won the World Series, so this year's champion will be a first-time winner.
